About Deborah Cooke

I write romance novels, including medieval romances as Claire Delacroix, and contemporary and paranormal romances as Deborah Cooke. I also am an avid knitter and sewist.

Dragon’s Heart and Pinterest

Dragon's Heart, book 3 of the DragonFate series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeI’m charging along on Dragon’s Heart, which is Rhys and Lila’s book, and having a wonderful time with their story. It’s so interesting to include heroines with powers of their own, and I’m loving the challenge of building out each heroine’s world, history and abilities, then fitting that in with the world of the Pyr. Lila is a selkie with an intriguing past who challenges Rhys’ expectations in so many ways. (It’s good for him to have things shaken up a bit. He likes to think he has everything sorted out, planned and organized.) She’s one of my favorite kinds of characters, a healer who is wounded herself. I think you’ll really enjoy their story!

I’ve also been adding to the Pinterest board for their book, and you can have a peek at my inspiration right here.

I’ve also been working on Sebastian and Sylvia’s story, which will ultimately become a book in its own right – and that has drawn me into the Coven of Mercy, with all of those characters’ stories. I think I’m going to be in the realm of DragonFate for a while!

Have you ordered your copy of Rhys and Lila’s story yet? July 22 isn’t that far away!

Moving Publication Date

Dragon's Heart, book 3 of the DragonFate series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeLike so many of you, I’m having trouble concentrating during these unsettling times. That’s affecting my writing and my productivity. As a result, I’ve pushed back the publication date on Dragon’s Heart (the DragonFate Novels #3) to July 22.

If you’ve preordered the book, you’ll probably get a notification from your portal of choice. If you ordered at Amazon, you’ll get two, because the date had to be moved 30 days at a time (instead of just 60 days all at once).

I apologize for the delay, but I know the book will be much better this way.

Here Be Dragons Trade Paperback Edition

I’ve been having some interesting adventures with the print editions of the Dragonfire Novel world guide. I’ll spare you all the fun details, but at this point, I think I’m going to leave it as it is now. The book is published through Amazon and distributing to other outlets from there. This means there won’t be a hardcover edition, unless I get my second wind and go after this project again.

The Barnes & Noble product page for the print edition isn’t linked to the product page for the ebook yet (I’ve asked) and similarly the two product pages are still linking at Amazon (because I asked). Indigo won’t pick up the listing, but the Book Depository should eventually list it on their site.

Update to Dragon’s Kiss

Here be Dragons, the Dragonfire Companion and guide to the paranormal romance series by Deborah CookeIn compiling Here Be Dragons, I found two corrections to be made in Dragon’s Kiss. They’re done now, so you might want to update your ebook from your portal of choice.

The changes fall in Chapter Eight.

1. All three darkfire crystals were broken by the end of Firestorm Forever, so it can’t be one of them that lights with darkfire in Rafferty’s study in Dragon’s Kiss. He has a collection of mineral samples displayed in his study in Darkfire Kiss, so it’s another one that lights. (They all light briefly during his firestorm with Melissa.)

Dragon's Kiss, book two of the DragonFate series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeThe originally published text said:

Rafferty rose from his chair and got something off the shelf. He paused beside Kristofer, then handed it to him. It was a large quartz crystal, as long as Kristofer’s hand, and it hummed quietly to him of the earth. He liked the weight of it and the way it shone.

“The darkfire crystal isn’t clear anymore like it used to be,” Melissa said. “I hadn’t noticed that before.”

“It’s been changing color since the darkfire was extinguished,” Rafferty said.

“Maybe it’s reverted to its natural color,” Erik suggested from the phone.

“It looks like it’s made of smoky quartz,” Kristofer said and Rafferty nodded agreement.

The new text says:

Rafferty rose from his chair and got something off the shelf. He paused beside Kristofer, then handed it to him. It was a large quartz crystal, as long as Kristofer’s hand, and it hummed quietly to him of the earth. He liked the weight of it and the way it shone.

“That crystal has darkfire!” Melissa said. “I hadn’t noticed that before.”

“It wasn’t there before,” Rafferty acknowledged.

“The stone looks like it’s made of smoky quartz,” Kristofer said and Rafferty nodded agreement.

Serpent's Kiss, #13 of the Dragonfire Novels, a series of paranormal romances by Deborah Cooke2. Bree is a Valkyrie, and one of the names of Chandra (Thorolf’s mate in Serpent’s Kiss) is Freya. They should know or know of each other, but there’s no such mention in Dragon’s Kiss. I decided that Thorolf and Chandra were offline and that Kristofer doesn’t know the whole truth about Chandra. Chandra and Bree will meet in Dragon’s Heart, but Rafferty should have had a thought about this when he first meets Bree. Now he does.

The originally published text said:

“She’s a Valkyrie,” Kristofer said, guessing Rafferty’s question before he asked it.

Rafferty tried to hide his surprise and knew he probably failed.

He waved Kristofer up the stairs.

The revised text says:

“She’s a Valkyrie,” Kristofer said, guessing Rafferty’s question before he asked it.

Rafferty tried to hide his surprise and knew he probably failed. He wished Thorolf and Chandra weren’t in Bhutan and unavailable, because Chandra’s knowledge might have helped with Kristofer’s firestorm.

He waved the younger Pyr up the stairs.

Dragon's Heart, book 3 of the DragonFate series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeThe third change is the name of Drake and Veronica’s son in the excerpt from Dragon’s Heart, so it’s just an FYI. I was thinking it should be Theo, since the oldest son in Drake’s line is always named Theo. That makes a lot of Theos since there’s a main character Theo in DragonFate, as well as the memory of Drake’s son by Cassandra. I called him Theodore in the excerpt from Dragon’s Heart. On the family tree for the Dragon Legion, though, his name is Eric. I made it Eric in the book. This is only in the downloadable longer excerpt, so doesn’t affect the book files for Dragon’s Kiss.
