Giveaway Winner

Kiss of Fire, book #1 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeIn my most recent Dragons & Angels newsletter, there was a giveaway. If you didn’t open your newsletter or you don’t subscribe, you missed a chance to win a signed hardcover copy of Kiss of Fire.

To enter the giveaway, subscribers told me whether they preferred dragon shifter paranormal romances with:

• dragon shifter heroes and heroines with no special powers

• dragon shifter heroes and dragon shifter heroines

• dragon shifter heroes and heroines with powers of their own

• dragon shifter heroines and heroes with powers of their own

Wyvern's Mate, book one of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeThere were a lot of replies and different explanations as to why anyone favored a specific one. The results were pretty well scattered, with the possibility of two dragon shifters together being the least popular. One reader pointed out that they would be too much the same then, which sounds quite reasonable.

Of course, I’ve written a few of these structures. The Dragonfire Novels feature dragon shifter heroes and heroines with no special powers. The Dragons of Incendium series features dragon shifter heroines and heroes, some of whom have special powers and some of whom don’t. And DragonFate will feature dragon shifter heroes and heroines with special powers of their own. More about that in next week’s newsletter.

The winner of the signed book was Karin, and it’s on its way to her now.

If you haven’t subscribed to the Dragons & Angels newsletter, you might want to do so before next week’s newsletter. It will include cover reveals for DragonFate.

About DragonFate

Here be Dragons, the Dragonfire Companion and guide to the paranormal romance series by Deborah CookeI’ve been sketching out my plans for DragonFate and thought you might like an update. I’ve had this series mapped out in my imagination for years, and it’s fun to be finally working on it. I’m making notes and sketches, and have begun to write some of the early schemes. Once the groundwork is done, the rest of the writing should proceed quite quickly. A big part of what’s been going on this year has been getting all of Dragonfire back into my head. I’ve been going through the books in that series and making notes, then filling out the records for Here Be Dragons: The Dragonfire Companion. I’ve also been compiling family trees for the Pyr.

As this series has taken shape, I’ve realized that it’s going to be a shorter and more tightly linked series of books. Each book will include a firestorm and a primary romance, but there will be more overlapping threads and ongoing stories that continue from book to book. Because of that, I know you’ll want to be able to go from one to the next fairly quickly. So, I’ve put off the publication date for book one, in order to have most or all of the books written before publication begins. I’m hoping to launch in the summer of 2019, and might enroll the series in Kindle Unlimited for 90 days before going into wide distribution. In the meantime, I’m going to share some of those early scenes with you.

Coastal Magic Reader Conference 2019On the 23rd, you’ll be able to read the first of those early scenes. It’s appearing as a guest post and short story on another blog (promoting the authors attending Coastal Magic 2019 – which includes me!) so stop back here for a link on the 23rd.

I’ll share a second scene with you in November, right here on the blog.
